In March of 1913, just two months after founding of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated, twenty two visionary women made history with their first public act of service: participating in the Women’s Suffrage March in Washington, D.C. This bold and defining moment set the foundation for more than 112 years of leadership, advocacy, and dedication to uplifting our community.
Our Founders envisioned a sisterhood rooted in service, integrity, and empowerment, and their legacy continues to thrive in the lives and work of our 350,000 Sorors around the globe. This January, we’re celebrating the bonds of sisterhood that unite us across campuses, states, and nations. From trailblazing achievements in politics, education, the arts, and entertainment, to championing advocacy, Delta women have continually led with both strength and purpose. Our Sorors are not only excelling in their respective careers, but they are also the backbones of their families and communities.
As we celebrate 112 years of sisterhood, let us remember all the reasons we have to be proud of Delta Sigma Theta: our unwavering commitment to justice and equity, our innovative programs that address critical issues, our dedication to promoting educational excellence, and our support of Historically Black Colleges and Universities. We take pride in our health initiatives, which have empowered communities with wellness and prevention tools, and our economic development programs that build financial literacy and stability. Whether championing the arts, mentoring youth, or amplifying the voices of the underserved, we have consistently answered the call to action for over a century.
This January, we’ll be honoring our 22 Founders and their incredible legacy with gratitude and pride. This month’s Delta Box includes the Delta Sigma Theta Collectible Bear with sweater, the ΔΣΘ white t-shirt for bear, and the ΔΣΘ white t-shirt for you, so you can match. Now, go out there and walk with the pride and strength of our Founders.
